FAQ
Answers to common questions about the DEXTools API.
General
What is the DEXTools API?
A RESTful API that provides access to on-chain DeFi data sourced directly from the blockchain: token metadata, pricing, pool analytics, rankings, audit data, and more across every supported network.
Which blockchains are supported?
Dozens of chains including Ethereum, BNB Chain, Solana, Base, Polygon, Avalanche, and Arbitrum. Call GET /v3/blockchains for the complete, current list.
How often is the data updated?
Data freshness varies by plan. Higher tiers receive fresher data, and Custom plans can negotiate near real-time access.
Is there a way to try the API for free?
Yes. The Free tier gives you 10,000 credits per month so you can evaluate the platform at no cost. Sign up for a free account to get a key.
Pricing and plans
What is a credit?
A credit is the unit of API consumption. Each endpoint costs a defined number of credits per call, and your monthly quota resets at the start of each billing cycle.
Can I change my plan?
Yes. Upgrade or downgrade at any time from your dashboard. Upgrades take effect immediately; downgrades take effect at the start of the next billing cycle.
Do unused credits roll over?
No. Your quota resets at the beginning of each monthly period regardless of usage.
Technical and integration
What format do responses use?
JSON, with a consistent envelope containing statusCode and data fields.
How do I handle pagination?
Most list endpoints accept page and pageSize query parameters and return the metadata you need to page through results.
What HTTP methods are used?
The DEXTools API is read-only and uses GET requests exclusively.
Are there official client libraries?
Official libraries are on the roadmap. In the meantime the API follows REST conventions, so any HTTP client works — see the Code Examples.
Data and security
How do I keep my API key secure?
Store it in environment variables or a secrets manager. Never expose it in client-side code, public repositories, or logs, and rotate keys periodically from your dashboard.
Can I use the API for commercial products?
Yes, commercial use is permitted under the Terms of Service. Some use cases may require a higher plan tier — contact us for enterprise licensing.
Support
How do I get help if something isn't working?
